Brooklyn native and downtempo pioneer, The Angel is a record producer, recording artist, remixer and Film/TV composer. Also known as 60 CHANNELS (trip hop/dnb) & JAZ KLASH (jazzy jungle with Smith & Mighty) she has featured an international group of vocalists on her records since the 90s, including her debut album, NO GRAVITY and recent singles, The Angel WORDS LIKE DAGGERS feat JHELISA and 60 Channels HOW IT GOES DOWN [The Angel Remix] feat SLIMKID3 of THE PHARCYDE.
The Angel’s distinctive blend of hip hop, dub, jazz, soul and drum ‘n bass led to productions, collaborations and remixes for THE PHARCYDE, SPEARHEAD, DONALD BYRD, GIFT OF GAB, DJ FOOD, THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES, London jungle MC NAVIGATOR, Bay Area Grammy Nominee MYSTIC, ANGIE HART (FRENTE!) and MONDAY MICHIRU and more. Her records have been extensively licensed to TV including HBO’s TRUE BLOOD, THE WIRE and 24 (Fox) among many others.
Since first signing to hip hop label Delicious Vinyl in ’93, relocating to L.A. from her adoptive city of London, performing at the first COACHELLA, MONTREAL JAZZ FESTIVAL and dj’ing many DNB raves, The Angel has broken through the glass ceiling as a woman composer in film and TV. She has scored seminal feature films like BOILER ROOM and UK cult hit, KiDULTHOOD, as well as being sought out to score network and cable TV series including the Fox FBI drama STANDOFF, Jada Pinkett Smith’s medical drama HAWTHORNE and Ava Duvernay’s CBS pilot FOR JUSTICE. Upcoming movie HEIST 88 starring Courtney B Vance for (Paramount / Bassett/Vance) will be coming to SHOWTIME in ’24.
