Lady Low is a rock sextet of cinematic proportions. Comprising of Jimmy Sweet (vocals, guitar), Eden Lee (vocals, drums), Shanel Chavers (vocals, synth), Kaitlin Wolfberg (violin), Corinne Olsen (violin), and Mia Siler (viola) they have created the soundtrack for a sexy Tarantino love affair. With sweeping strings and luscious 3-part harmonies, Lady Low’s collection of heartfelt hymns are akin to an epic musical romance novel. Returning to L.A. after his time in London, Sweet wanted to create a timeless love story for a modern generation, ‘where strings and heartstrings collide’. And so Lady Low was born.
Lady Low is not the first musical expedition for these romance rock pioneers. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Jimmy has been rocking for years, starting out with legendary San Francisco rock band, The Richmond Sluts. He still performs with the Goodtime Boys, a ’70s cover band, along with members of Hot Hot Heat, Fleet Foxes, The Heavy, and Beachwood Sparks. As the founding member of Lady Low, Jimmy writes most of the band’s ballads, drawing from past romances and future hopes. Donning a style reminiscent of Marlon Brando meets David Bowie, he adds a masculine touch and growling baritone to the sultry tones of Lady Low.
Eden is no stranger to the limelight. She has appeared in regional commercials throughout the midwest, but her heart has always been in music. She plays the piano, viola, and drums and has written arrangements and entire songs for many of the groups she’s had the chance to be a part of. Even with all that, her main instrument is her voice. While studying vocal performance at Ohio University, Eden recorded and performed with The First Street Heat, a nine-piece funk group. She has also been featured in the Columbus-based band, SassafraZ, and Tempo Tantrums, a female a cappella group.
The romance side of Lady Low’s signature sound comes from the strings, for which Kaitlin and Mia are responsible. These girls have talent beyond their role as the band’s string players though. The arrangements are written by Kaitlin, who also plays viola and keyboard. She has worked with indie legends The Bats and The DB’s, and has played with heavy hitters such as Dweezil Zappa and Ruthann Friedman. She regularly performs in LA with Seasons and Rough Church as well as Lady Low, and is currently the string director of the Wild Honey Collective, where Mia also performs. Mia is well versed in the art of taking an audience’s breath away, with a background in diverse artforms from aerial silk acrobatics to roller derby. After earning a degree in classical violin at Humboldt State University, Mia has gone on to play with singer-songwriter Rozzi Crane and contribute to the Faerie Archives with High Priestess Productions.
